FAQs

What are the Australian Medical Council Exams?

The Australian Medical Council (AMC) exams are for international medical graduates (IMGs) eager to practice medicine in Australia.

The exam consists of two parts: a multiple choice question (MCQ) written exam, and a clinical skills component.

The AMC MCQ test is your first examination hurdle to practice medicine in Australia. It’s a 3.5 hour computer adaptive test and consists of 120 multiple-choice questions with one correct response from five options. After passing the MCQs, you can then take the AMC Clinical Exam which tests your clinical skills in a controlled environment.

Who can use the AMBOSS AMC Study Guide?

For IMGs: This study plan is for any AMC candidate looking to revise all exam topics in a structured and comprehensive manner.

For local Australian students: Although students studying at Australian universities don’t have to sit the AMC exams, the Australian Medical Council is also the body that performs the accreditation of Australian Medical Schools. Therefore students studying for their final medical school exams may find that this study guide helps provide structure to their revision.
